Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to interpret line types, orthographic projections, dimensioning methods, notes, welding symbols, and specifications. Students should be able to read basic blueprints and visualize features of a part.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to safely setup cutting equipment. Students should be able to perform straight line cuts, curve and bevel cuts on varying metal thicknesses utilizing the Oxyfuel and Plasma Arc Cutting Processes.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to safely setup SMAW welding equipment. Students should be able to perform SMAW fillet and groove welds on carbon steel plate with prescribed electrodes.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to safely setup Gas Metal Arc Welding and Flux Core Arc Welding equipment. Students should be able to perform fillet welds on carbon steel in the flat, horizontal, and overhead welding positions.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to safely setup GTAW (Tig) welding equipment, correctly select tungsten electrodes, polarity, shielding gas, and filler rods. Students should be able to perform GTAW (Tig) fillet welds and groove welds with various electrodes and filler metals.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to perform measurements, layout techniques, cutting, joining techniques, and how to use fabrication tools and equipment. Students should be able to perform layout activities and operate various fabrication and material handling equipment.
Objective
Students will demonstrate the ability to inspect welds. Students should be able to inspect welds using various inspection tools, understand the various weld inspection methods and/or perform weld inspections using non-destructive and destructive methods.
Objective
Students will demonstrate safe and compliant operation of automated welding and cutting systems by performing system setup, developing and modifying basic programs, and troubleshooting common faults.
Objective
Students will apply appropriate safety procedures, thermal cutting processes, and GMAW/FCAW welding operations in automated welding and cutting environments.
