Student Accessibility Services

Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) is committed to providing equal access to educational opportunities for all students. In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, the college ensures that qualified students with disabilities have access to programs, services, and activities.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to provide reasonable accommodations that support student success while maintaining academic standards. Accommodations are designed to remove barriers and provide equitable access to learning.

CCCC does not discriminate on the basis of disability. No qualified individual shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any college program or activity. The college provides reasonable accommodations and, when appropriate, modifications to instructional delivery to ensure access to educational opportunities.

Requesting Accommodations

Students seeking accommodations should complete the following steps:

  1. Apply to the College
Submit a standard admissions application to CCCC.

  2. Connect with Student Accessibility Services
Contact the Office of Student Accessibility Services to request accommodations. Students may self-identify or be referred by a high school, community agency, parent, or CCCC faculty or staff member.

  3. Submit Documentation
Provide current documentation of the disability (generally within the past five years). Documentation guidelines are available through Student Accessibility Services.

  4. Participate in an Intake Meeting
Meet with the Accessibility Services Coordinator to review documentation, discuss needs, and determine appropriate accommodations. A service agreement will be established.

  5. Request Accommodations Each Semester
Complete a Student Schedule Request at the beginning of each semester and whenever schedules change. This authorizes notification of instructors.

  6. Instructor Notification
The Accessibility Services Coordinator will provide instructors with an official accommodation notice outlining approved accommodations.

Academic Standards

All students, including those receiving accommodations, are expected to meet the same academic standards and course requirements. Accommodations are intended to provide equal access and reduce the impact of a disability; they do not alter essential course outcomes.
